Website of the Week: Milaeon.co.uk

December 22nd, 2010 — 3:38pm

It’s time for our final Website of the Week for 2010. And what a website to finish on!

Milaeon.co.uk is the web presence of Actor & Performer agency MILAEON. This is a talented business, providing not just actor representation but also workshops, showreels, headshots, retouching, creative and studio space.

And it’s a great site, creatively and cohesively showcasing the business to best effect. There’s professional video, Twitter profile integration, good use of forms and plenty of images too.

When did you build your website?

2009

Why did you build a website?

It is an essential requirement of my business, so without it, no business!

What do you like best about your website?

The reason I chose webeden for my huge website is because I need to update a large number of pages on a daily basis, and most importantly in real time, because I receive bookings each hour, so the ease of making fast changes with a couple of clicks has proved very profitable for me.

What is your best website building tip?

Simplicity, but with a professional touch. Make sure your visitors know easily and exactly where to find what they require, and keep each page informative but free of clutter.

Addition:

I have rarely had any technical issues with webeden, but when one has popped up, the response from webeden has been fast and helpful, therefore in my years of using various web building companies, this is the only one I have actually recommended to anyone!

[Thanks for that - it's very appreciated - Ken]

Website of the Week: WhiskyMerchants.co.uk

November 26th, 2010 — 12:00pm

This week’s top website – and it’s been a long time coming – is WhiskyMerchants.co.uk.

A keen Twitter aficionado and (obviously!) a whisky advocate, WhiskyMerchants.co.uk brings you “information about all types of whiskies, tasting notes, expressions and bottlers”. This includes lots of details about distilleries & their history, visitor centres and all the relevant contact details.

We like this site. It is PACKED with information and tasting notes about every whisky you could think of (and a few more besides). Despite this density the site is easy to navigate and above all displays an enthusiasm for the subject which is pretty inspiring. Take a look!

www.whiskymerchants.co.uk

When did you build your website?

Started building the website in January 2008 and been adding information to it ever since.

Why did you build a website?

One of my rivals had hijacked the advertising space on a whisky information site I was advertising on. So I thought why not build my own and use it to advertise my commercial website

I looked around for some website building software and came across webeden. after reading the positive reviews and the free trial decided to have a go.

What do you like best about your website?

The flexibility, I can add flash video, twitter feeds, news feeds, all this makes it easy to keep the website looking up to date. plus the ease of use, I am a one eyed one finger 50 plus (never been taught) webbie so if I can do it any one can

What is your best website building tip?

Use twitter and Google news feeds. these can be added so as to be always updating your website even when you cannot.

Website of the Week: Transform-macedonia.net

November 17th, 2010 — 12:33pm

This week’s best website is an international one – and one of the best we’ve seen.

Transform-Macedonia.net is the website for the Institute of Spiritual Development in Macedonia. It’s another strong design by Web Design studio Fractal Design. The site is tightly themed, uses great visual tricks such as a drop-shadow on the homepage video, and strikes a good balance between images, text and (that often forgotten necessity) space.

When did you build your website?

Completed July 2010

Why did you build a website?

It was for a client in Macedonia who is opening an Institute for Spiritual Development in the country.

What do you like best about your website?

I love the relationship between vimeo and webeden created by the HTML snippet.

What is your best website building tip?

Because webeden is soooo accessible you can create amazing websites, but also clutter the screen with too many gizmos. Don’t get excited about the number of features. Think about the viewer. We all start on google because the blank space relaxes us – do the same with your website.

Website of the Week: NightlineDesign.com

November 2nd, 2010 — 2:12pm

We’ve been away for a week but what a site to come back to!

NightlineDesign.com demonstrates the pure free-form design-led creativity that we think makes WebEden great. The site is completely bespoke – it doesn’t make use of any templates. The images are powerful and displayed evenly and effectively. And the use of black ground add weight to the whole project. Inspiring stuff!

When did you build your website?

I created my website, about a year ago, and since then have completely re-designed the function and look of the site, keeping the site in tune to my latest projects.

Why did you build a website?

I originally built my site to work as an online folio, but am now helping young people in cornwall set up in buisness, helping them to find the right image that suits their company.

The website now reflects everything around my buisness and has helped me get my design work out there.

What do you like best about your website?

The thing I like most about my website, is that its simple direct and easy for my customers to find out what they need without having a website jammed full of imformation. All my photography is original and flows nicely with the webeden software.

I hope the site looks visually eyecatching to you [It does - Ken] , and would love it if you chose my site as website of the week [Done!].

Thanks for developing such a usefull piece of software

Website of the Week: Jewellery-Storeonline.co.uk

October 12th, 2010 — 1:07pm

Well the last one was so good that we left it up there for not 1 week but 2. But now its time for another Website of the week.

Here’s jewellery-storeonline.co.uk, a newly established Internet-only outfit who aim to bring you ‘the best products at amazing prices’! The website is easy to navigate and clearly laid out, and shows that an ecommerce site doesn’t have to be complicated.

When did you build your website?

I started building my website roughly 3 – 4 weeks ago and I am now advertising on google hoping to drive potential customers in!

Why did you build a website?

I created my website as i researched the market and found that there was a gap in the market for low and high cost jewellery making accessories all on one site.

What do you like best about your website?

The thing i like best about my site is that i built it my self and everything is in fully working order. because i created it myself i can make alterations any time i want to.

What is your best website building tip?

My best website building tip would be that if your not happy with something change it, and also if you think of adding anything WRITE IT DOWN SO YOU DON’T FORGET!!!!!
